Information about the Virginia Union extension online, registering in a technical degree program to develop job skills, and taking free practice tests online. Instructors typically make some of their academic research available online. In addition, they may have real-world business experience, depending on their background. Students can participate in group discussions with a live professor in attendance via Google Hangouts, a video-conferencing application. Online education can open up the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript, if you so choose. Alternatively, you can complete additional credits for a grade.

Earning an advanced degree isn't as hard as it may seem, and by combining work-study or internships with your class schedule, you can defray the additional tuition costs. Your increased earnings potential in the job market will far outweigh the years you invest in your education. Even while you're still a student, you should think about earning a part-time income online. A few simple steps will help you start your own e-Commerce business. The easiest way to start is by authoring a daily blog, and monetize your traffic with Google Adsense. You can drive targeted visitors to your site at a reasonable cost by learning search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. You can also make money with affiliate programs, or charge monthly membership fees, if making certain types of Android OS websites. Just web page design and layout isn't enough, if no-one can find it in Google search results. You'll also need online marketing skills.

Online Courses - MOOCs

Virginia Union pagenameIf a high school student is passionate about going to a particular college, but doesn't have the grades, he or she may try to apply for a degree major that is less popular, or harder for the school to fill. Pursue your career interests, not high-paying starting salaries, and your overall job earnings will reflect the enthusiasm that you bring to your work, increasing over time as you gain business experience. If you focus your prospective degree choice on salary alone, there is the risk that you may suffer early signs of burnout, and be forced to change careers.

Technical training programs are a low-cost alternative to attending college, and you might end up earning a lot of money as a highly-skilled, technical consultant, or by starting your own small business. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, and offer a variety of learning platforms, utilizing cloud-based software and Google apps.

An online degree may be just as marketable as a college degree earned on campus. Udemy online learning, a site which allows anyone to build (or take) online courses, is a new startup with backing from the founders of Groupon. Khan Academy now offers over 3,900 micro-lectures available via YouTube. Coursera, another online-learning software platform, has millions of enrolled students around the world. Through MIT Open Courseware online classes, educators can improve development of their curricula, making their instruction more effective.

Technical Degree Programs

Today's highly competitive job market requires a college degree that develops the skills which employers need. By focusing on online degree programs, along with job search resources to locate career opportunities, new graduates can land high-paying jobs in computer programming, health care, and business administration. An associates degree is a two-year program that either results in an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree. A variety of careers are available to people who hold associates degrees. Generally, the more math and science courses you take in your program, the more competitive a salary you will receive upon graduation. The greatest downside to an associates degrees in the job market is that you will be competing with individuals with bachelors degrees. Therefore, make sure you're comfortable in the niche you've chosen.

Although the cost of tuition has risen for most 4-year colleges and universities, the average community college student graduates with only a few thousand dollars of debt, compared to bachelors degree graduates. If you're planning on transferring to a four-year program anyway, an associates degree program can save you a lot of money in the first two years of your college education.

Nursing & Medical Job Listings

Earning a CNA degree (Certified Nursing Assistant) is the first step towards becoming a fully-qualified nurse. Most CNA programs can be completed within a few months, allowing you to join the workforce quickly. The next step in a nursing career is to become a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or LVN ( Licensed Vocational Nurse). These are year-long programs, in which you'll work under an RN distributing meds, treating wounds, and providing basic patient care.

In order to become an RN (Registered Nurse), a bachelors degree in nursing is recommended. RN's command a greater salary, and are responsible for an enlarged scope of practice over LPNs and CNAs. Students will receive classroom instruction and clinical training in a hospital setting. A 4-year BSN program allows students to further specialize in the areas of pediatrics, geriatrics and mental health. After completing your nursing education, you must be licensed by the state in which you'll be practicing, given that state boards of nursing each have specific certification requirements.
